JUMPING INTO BOLD COLORS

A VIVID STORE FRONT IN LAS VEGAS, NM, 2010

I admit that this photograph may not appeal to everyone, and that it is not "pretty", but I like it. This image is an interpretation of the scene that I saw, and of what the camera recorded. The colors of the building are close, but the sky is considerably altered. Maybe I am playing God by "painting" skies in the manner I see fit. I think an artist is a creator. One may interpret the scene as accurate as they can. I do that all the time. I have observed that painters have license to interpret their subjects, but that photographers, may at times, be held to a standard of realism. It is that realism that I am rebelling against. I am not doing so just to pick a fight, but I do so because of what I wish to show. I am ready to accept that not everyone will appreciate an image such as this. Actually, I hope that is the case.
