OVERCAST MORNING ON HUMBOLDT BAY

Pilings in the Mist

Pam and I talked ourselves into getting up early to go photographing. We decided to hike down the new trail south of the mall. The tide was out and the fog was in. Our visibility was not much over a hundred feet. We heard a boat or two go by on the main channel, but we could not see that far.

A NEW INTERPRETATION OF AN OLDER IMAGE

RSVD, Eureka, 2010

I am working images from years past. I am finding that I can do a lot of things with some of them that I did not know how to do before. I think my vision is developing along with my technical skills. I hope each aspect of my artistry is keeping up with the other.

I is kind of cool to realize that as my vision expands that my need for a stronger technical tool box follows along. Sometimes the technical improvements that I incorporate offer new prospects for my vision. That seems to happen more and more.

AMPING UP MY EFFORTS ON THE ARCATA PROJECT

Dottie May's and Essence of Humboldt

I am revisiting my Arcata and Eureka images with the idea that it is time for me to compile a theme-based exhibit of this project. I am satisfied that many of these images are candidates for the show.

THINKING OF SUNNY DAYS

Northcoast Sunset

THE ARCATA SERIES REVISITED

The Former Humboldt Machine Works Building in Transition

This building is now part of a wine making operation. I think I need to get back down there to see what the signage says now. I took this image in 2010, and there could be plenty of changes.

VERTICAL PANORAMA

Nine Images Combined in HDR and Photomerge

I don't really have a lot to say these days, but this was a fun image to create. I used the 17mm TS lens. I racked it to the bottom of its range and took three exposures at two-stop intervals. Then I racked it to its center and took three more. Finally, I racked it to the top of its range and took the last three. I combined the groups of three in HDR. I took those three combined images into Photomerge, and created the panorama. I then worked the final image in Lightroom.

Smith River Reflections

I took this photograph yesterday while on an outing with Pam and Hal. I will not declare this image to be "finished", but it is a start.
